Building with purposes: stories from now Go Build CTO Fellows

It has been Build for a few years since the last season. This time we surrounded a slightly different approval. Intostead of Startups, we focus on the opening class now Go Build CTO Fellows. Nine technological leaders from social impact organizations who solve some of the most difficult problems of humanity.

These are builders working in the field of disasters, regions unwrapped in climate and communities around the world. They show every day that when you give intelligent people access to good data, the right tools and expertise of domain, they can create excessive effects forever.

Today we respond the first episode in a series of five parts that represents each of the colleagues and the work Ding. The remaining episodes will be issued in the coming weeks with a focus on crisis mapping, AI and open data, food security and strengthening community position. All episodes will be available on all distributed things and on YouTube.

Episode 1: Get to know your colleagues

Meet the CTO colleagues who work on the management of disasters and climate resistance, each of which brings unique perspectives to how technology can deal with the most urgent needs of humanity. From crisis zones to community centers, these builders show what is possible if you combine technical expertise with deep knowledge of humanitarian challenges.

Episode 2: Crisis Mapping

Many mapping services map only parts of this world that are commercially interests. Many parts of the world remain mapped, which may mean the difference between life and death at the time of the crisis. Petya from the OpenStreetMap and Ola Help.ngo team is changing it.

Episode 3: AI and open data

Behind each humanitarian crisis are people who make a decision to divide a second with incomplete information. Alicia of Mercy Corps, Acaps Kuldeep and Fermine from the shouting of these creators make decisions of tools that need to see the surrounding corners. Using open data from satellites and remote sensors, down to social media posts, monitoring, predicting and preliminary measures before crisis.

Episode 4: Food Security

Disconnection between food deficiency and food safety is a problem with a solvent. There is enough food in the world to feed everyone, but it does not always end up where it is most. Alicia of Mercy Corps, Ameesh from 412 Food and Ola from Help.ngo Local discussion and global solution that helps prevent food deficiency and need to access cooperation.

Episode 5: Communion of communities

Global challenges require local solutions. Carlos of Green XPO Lab, Code from Code for Africa and Vijay from Watershed Organization will understand it. These three guys use remote sensing, AI and data analysis to lead changes in civil, agricultural and environmental contexts – with communities, not just for communities.
